Stampless folded letter addressed to John S. Barrows Esqr. Fryburgh postmarked from Bingham, Maine Nov 17, presumably in 1831. The letter is dated Nov 8th 1831, and was written by Washington McIntire of Bingham ME. The subject of the letter is an amount due to McIntire for serving a writ in a suit between John Purrington et al. v. Silas Whitney. McIntire requests that payment of his fee of $3.50 be mailed either to him or to Levi G. Fletcheer, Bingham postmaster. There is an attestation dated Nov 24, 1836 on the lower half of the letter in the name of Samuel Isley, who swears that he witnessed payment of $4.00 cash made by Mr. Barrows included with this letter and posted at Fryeburg.
